“We have to read for 90 minutes EVERYDAY! That’s SO awesome!”
“I wish we started school on Monday so I wouldn’t have to wait two whole days to go back!”
Mommy took this movie of us being chased around the room by Parker’s new remote control helicopter.
Check out our fancy fighting skills!
Mommy had a big plan of attack for all the fun things we were going to do while Daddy was in India. Just because he didn’t go doesn’t mean that we have to slow our roll! Today, we piled in and headed South to get one more trip to the Children’s Museum in the bag before school starts.
We first stopped at the gigantic BumbleBee sculpture and got our picture taken there. It wasn’t a buzzing honey-maker, it was a huge Transformer! Next, made a stop at the Terracotta Warrior photo op and then on to see Dora and Diego. We hit the pirate ship, rain forest maze, and Parker even got all the way across the monkey bars. At Take Me There Egypt, we served Momma coffee, made a digital postcard for Daddy and sent it to him since he was stuck at work, and made beaded furniture. After Egypt, we went to the dinos and dragons, where we sculpted & drew dragons…mine had a big fat belly, a pointy tail, lots of scales, a long next, a little head, three spikes on its head, very tiny wings, and sharp claws on its feet. Science Works has the area with the rubber rocks and we like to scoop and shovel those dudes all over the place. We played in the water and worked the bucket to scoop and splash while Parker played with boats. At The Power of Children, we learned about Ryan White, Ruby Bridges, and we made promises on virtual leaves that were displayed on the big tree in the front. Parker’s promise was to keep the trees as clean as can be, and mine was to say Hello to every new kid at my school. Then, we visited the Chihuly glass and watched them clean the huge sculpture in the middle of the building…what a job! Finally, we went through the new Treasures of the Earth exhibit and built a mummy’s coffin and worked at the dig site.
All tuckered out from our adventures, Momma was able to drag us through the Keystone Mall for a little bit to kill time before Daddy got out of work and could meet us for Phase 2…dinner! We had a free appetizer to Joe’s Crab Shack for Parker’s birthday burning a hole in our pocket, so we made our way that direction and got down on crab nachos, shrimp, and fish (ummm…and pizza for Parks). As if we weren’t stuffed crabs already, we topped off the celebration with Orange Leaf frozen yogurt, our new favorite treat! I liked the strawberry but wasn’t a huge fan of the cookies and cream. The brownie bits on top were awesome, though. Parks went back to his old standby, cotton candy and gummy worms.
Finally, we waddled out to our cars and rolled home where we snuggled and watched a few episodes of Pawn Stars before calling it a night. Jam packed day, but we have an agenda this week and need to squeeze in as much fun as we can. So far so good!
