Busy Week

Aside from Momma having her surgery on Monday, it was a pretty standard summer vacation week around here…with a few modifications here and there.
With Momma’s surgery being on Monday, Parks and I went to school and camp which is not our normal routine. It was okay, though. We both love our time with our friends. Daddy took care of Momma and picked us up at the end of the day. He kept us entertained away from home by taking us out to dinner and to play to give Momma an extra hour of healing before we hit the door.

On Tuesday, Mema came down to take care of Momma and we stayed home, too. Momma was feeling very ambitious and didn’t want this surgery to keep her down for too long, so we all loaded up in the car and headed to the library for some new books and prizes for our summer reading! After we hit Pizza Hut Salad bar for some lunch. By then, Momma was feeling beat and we all headed home so she could rest. It was fun spending time with Mema!

Friday was a Gigi Friday with a twist… Dana came with Gigi to play with us! We were off and running by 9AM! First, we went to Gibby’s to treat Dana to the best donuts on Earth! Then we went to Dollar Tree, Subway, Toy Story 3, Apron Strings, and then back home to play restaurant. It was a normal jam packed Gigi Friday, but a bonus with Dana!

Momma would like to thank everyone for thinking about her this week, and all the special treats!

After all of the rain on Saturday, we weren’t sure about our chances of making it to the Indy Air Show on Sunday. But, we decided to give it a whirl anyway and packed our cooler and blanket and headed out to Mt. Comfort Airport to see some airplanes doing tricks. Turns out that rain wasn’t our problem at all…it was the sun! Man, by the time we lugged our stuff out to the air field over all of the long, swampy grass and mud we were already tired!

We set up camp and chilled out for a bit watching the crazy Jelly Belly airplane doing flips and stalls. Next up was the super loud and super fast F18 Hornet. It was definitely the fastest plane out there and did some crazy rolls and climbs, but we were glad to see the Jelly Belly plane come out again and do more silly stunts, too. We probably watched 42,234 more planes come out and fly up, fly down, flip over, roll around, loop-the-loop, and land before we decided that we had enough sun and it was time to make the trek back to the car with all of our gear.

The wonderful air conditioning brought us back to life and, by the time we hit Indy, we were ready for some grub. We hit Red Robin and pounded some fries and sandwiches before making it back home. We topped off the day with some bike/scooter riding and then packed it in. We were so worn out that everyone fell right to sleep and didn’t move a muscle!

Anyone who has “the whole summer off” would think that person would just be hanging out, leisure, etc. Not my Momma! We’ve been going, going, gone! Here’s what a week looks like for us:

Monday-Head to Lafayette to play at the Ivy Tech Library while Mema finishes up teaching her kids. Momma and I read about four books; Parks plays in the play area. Mema arrives, and we’re off running some sort of errands…Hobby Lobby, Menards, visiting Uncle TC, whatever happens to be on the agenda. Next, lunch in basement, and then SWIMMING! Mema’s pool looks awesome and Parks and I have a blast in there! We tend to be pretty pooped out at the end of the day so we fall asleep on the way home. We get awakened for dinner, bath, jammies, and some Wii time with Daddy.

Tuesday-Rainy, cold day doesn’t stop us. Ran errands all over Lebanon, sign up for summer reading program at the Lebanon Library, hit Ice Cream Paradise, and cleaned out some of the garage.

Wednesday-Camp/school for the majority of the day then Pizza Hut Salad Bar for dinner since Wednesday is Daddy’s golf night.
Thursday-Repeat of Wednesday, but Daddy works from home, so he usually picks us up.

Tomorrow is Gigi Friday so watch out, Gigi, here we come!

We kicked off the holiday weekend early…we headed North to Lafayette bright and early on Friday and Momma and Daddy dropped us off at Gigi’s house to hang out for an overnight adventure! Mommy and Daddy were executing on a parents-only getaway that she arranged with her teacher friends in Chicago, so we got to be spoiled all weekend. We played games and ate yummy food and snacks, but we didn’t freeload. We worked off our room & board by washing Gigi’s Blue Bug!

On Saturday night, Mommy and Daddy met up with us at Mema & Pepa’s and we all crashed there to be ready for another annual celebration on Sunday…the Annual Opening Up The Pool holiday! There was a lot of stinky water, sweating, and cussing from the grown ups, but Parker and I kept ourselves occupied in the sprinkler and generally “helping”…including a quick dip in the newly uncovered summertime swimming hole.

Monday, our bonus day, was a little more lazy but still included a pre-birthday lunch (call it a warm up to the main event) at Red Robin and ice cream at Obwerweis.

Thanks to everyone for letting us crash and filling our bellies while the parents partied it up!
