Daddy and I got up early on Saturday and headed down to Warren Central for my 2nd swim meet of the season. Time to put all of that practice to work! I sort of like going to swim meets, but the worst part is waiting around all day for my events to start. I hung out in the warm-up pool for most of the time but got the evil eye from Daddy whenever I started splashing and playing around. There was something to distract my attention, though…Gigi and Poppa showed up with Mommy and Parks! There got there in plenty of time to watch me swim my 50 Backstroke. It was the first time I ever did a down-and-back in a meet! I came in 4th or 5th in my heat and got 10th overall, which is just what I did last time and I improved my time, so I’m pretty proud of that. I came up in the stands for a little bit between my events and hung out, but it was soon time to get back down there and swim my 25 Freestyle. I also improved my time in that event!
After the meet, we grabbed some lunch, headed back to Lebanon, and thanked Gigi and Poppa for coming to cheer me on. There was no time to lounge around and rest, though, because we took right off to C’ville to Mommy’s school. Mema and Pepa met us there and the grown ups hung over 1000 Christmas lights and lots of strings of Danish flags for Momma’s Christmas Around the World event. Parks and I messed around with the chalk board until Daddy was fed up of looking at lights and took us down to get crazy in the gym! We played with balls, frisbees, trampolines, and all sorts of other great equipment to pass the time and burn some energy while the work in Mommy’s room continued. Finally, it was time to call it a day…but not before a quick trip to B-Dubs for dinner. Whew…talk about pooped!
What? “More?” you say? Yes! On Sunday, we hooked up with Riley, Taylor, Uncle Manata, Aunt Carrie, Riley, Taylor, Mema, Pepa, TC, Renee, and Mommy’s friend from work and their family for a ride on the Polar Express! We took up the whole back end of our train car with our party of 17! We sat for a while on the tracks before we got rolling, but once we did, it was right of of the story book. There was cookies, hot chocolate, cooks dancing down the isles (no flips?), and conductor to punch our ticket, songs, and a visit to the North Pole! We picked up the big bearded elf at that stop and gave him a ride all the way back to the station in Connersville. He made his way through all of the train cars and eventually back to us. Some of us were reluctant at first, but we all got a chance to tell Santa what we wanted for Christmas…or at least stare him down from across the train if we were afraid to get too close. It was way past bedtime when we got back to the car, so I was cashed out in 10 minutes. I hear that Parks held out for a lot longer, but I’ll just have to take their word for it because my sleepy head was cashed out from the big weekend!
