Whew, what a Halloween extravaganza! Last night we hung out with Riley and Taylor and the whole family at Gigi and Poppa’s house, then we stopped by Mema and Pepa’s house to rake in even more loot! Then, tonight, we were lucky enough to be on the Byrne’s trick-or-treat rotation and they helped us hand out candy and collect some back from the neighborhood houses. Thanks to everyone for haunting around with us this Halloween!
Daddy and I worked together on mine, but I think Parker lost interest pretty quickly in his. Good thing Mommy was there to rescue the effort!
Can you even believe that Momma and Daddy set an alarm for this morning?? I mean really! We’re supposed to be on vacation! I guess that just meant we had an action packed day ahead of us…in Toronto! We all jumped in car and headed out the QEW (Queen Elizabeth Way) for some Toronto fun!
Our first stop was Casa Loma. This is exactly what it’s named for. It’s a 96 room castle on a hill. Daddy suggested that I get my own self-guided audio tour thingy. Momma was hesitant, but it turned out that I loved punching in the numbers and finding out all about the castle. Beside the actual rooms, we got to go ALL the way up to the tippy-top of the tower and look out little tiny windows. It was really cool, but there were a lot of very steep steps to negotiate. Parks did an awesome job both ways…a little slow, but awesome! We also used a secret passage to go to the second floor, and a tunnel under the road and over to the stables, garage, and potting shed.
We were there for about 2 1/2 hours before packing it in and heading to the Ontario Science Centre for some hands on fun. On the way, we did a quick spin though the McDonald’s drive through. Then, after tickets were in hand, we made our way through a space exhibit followed by a lot of pretend play and exploring in the Kidspark area. The whole place was laid out very strangely so it seemed like we spent a lot of time on escalators, but that’s okay because who doesn’t love an escalator ride?!? Next we were on to the Science Arcade area where there were tons on hands on playing…I mean learning…to be done. After, we took a stroll through the indoor rain forest, checked out the HUGE cockroaches, did a taste test on which water tastes best, watched a goofy little side-show where peoples’ hair stood on end, and rounded out the visit with a full-on Parker meltdown. He didn’t want to leave. But, to his defense, he didn’t know what super-cool fun was about to happen next…
Back in the car and downtown to the heart of Toronto to checkout the CN Tower…the world’s largest tower! As in Lebanon Lawson style, we couldn’t just SEE it, we had to experience it from the top (all the Lebanon Lawson’s minus the Momma, that is). She waited down below while Daddy, Parks, and I zoomed to the observation deck in 58 seconds. There was an outdoor observation area as well where Parker’s hat blew off, but was quickly recovered. There was also a glass floor on the lower level where Parker just decided to plop down and play with is Canadian bus! Daddy told Momma that would have freaked her out. She agreed! I also had my share of fun on the glass floor.
After having returned to ground level and a newly-smashed penny in hand to commemorate the event, it was time to call it a day and head back to Niagara Falls. Everyone is pretty tired, even those of us that didn’t want to fully admit it, and Momma’s been nursing some sort of eye infection for most of the day so even she was ready to throw in the towel. But, not before requesting an order of poutine from the little joint we ate at last night. The Daddy, in his usual “take care of the Momma” mindset, obliged her request. Good night, Everyone!
