After we got home from school today, every-bunny was in a very hoppy mood. We decided to do something very egg-citing:
Momma missed having breakfast with Daddy, Parker, and me again today, but not because she was feeling sick…she was FINALLY getting to celebrate her birthday from us! While we were eating the usual cereal and pancakes for breakfast, she was getting a hot rock massage!
Once we met back up, we explored the ship a little more and found Camp Carnival. Camp Carnival is the place where grown-ups can leave their kids to play and do activities while they fall asleep drinking diet cokes by the pool and get sunburns! I never spent anytime at Camp Carnival, but today Parker got to be there for about an hour. Once he saw the Geotrax, he forgot about the rest of us pretty quickly. He even made a pirate hat!
Next was a pretty boring grown-up meeting about how to get off the ship. I have an idea, just get your bags and walk out the door! Seems pretty easy to me. It would cut down that 45 minute talk to about 1 minute. Oh well, I passed the time by playing with Daddy’s phone and turning pictures of Parker into space aliens and bugs using the Paint application. It was a very good use of my time, if I do say so myself.
Lunch was a little different today. We made our way up to the other restaurant (Seven Seas) to have the standard cheese pizza and toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Why stray from what you know?
Pool time! We hung out at the Nemo pool for over three hours! I made friends with a bunch of kids, but a girl my age named Angel and I really hit it off. We had so much in common. We were both six, we both had baby brothers, and we both had the very same flip-flops. BFF! Parker buddied up right away with her baby brother who was about nine months old. He kept saying, “Bebe! Bebe!” We played tag, mermaids, fairies, all that girl stuff! So when Momma said it was time to go, I was less than happy about it. But, I didn’t know what she had in store next!
Back in the room, Parker fell asleep as soon as his diaper was changed and Momma and I headed to the room with the spinning couches (the theater). We arrived a little early to our “class,” so we watched the end of the “Newlywed Game.” I guess it was funny, but I’m not sure what everyone was laughing about. No matter, because the best part was yet to come….it was a towel folding demonstration! You know those towel animals the people leave in your room when you’re gone? Well, I learned how to make an elephant AND a bulldog! We brought two different sized towels to the demo and got to go up on the stage in order to have room to lay out our towels. It was so much fun! Momma and I demonstrated our newly found talent for Daddy and Parker back in the room. I can’t wait to show my class how to make them!
The last dinner on the boat was pretty standard with some singing and dancing by the waiters and waitresses to accompany our cheese pizza and peanut butter and jelly sandwich. We finished up our last night with a musical show in the theater called “Shout” a towel on our bed in the shape of a heart, packing, paperwork, and little square chocolates! All’s well that ends with chocolate!
Momma Note: One of the questions asked in the Newlywed Game was something about “whoopee,” which Morgan thinks means “memory.” So, this is our conversation during the game:
Guy asking the question to the lady, “What was your most memorable place of whoopee?”
Morgan’s whispered response to me, “This boat is my best whoopee, Momma!”
Contrary to the title of this post, it didn’t start out so fun for the Momma. After a rough night of adjusting to the boat and having the sickies that everyone else had the previous week, she wasn’t so early bird to rise…but Parks, Daddy and I were! We were up so early that we had to kill time exploring the boat before the breakfast buffet even opened! We walked all over the boat checking out all three pools, one with a picture of Nemo painted on the bottom, the playground, volleyball courts, ping-pong tables, shops, the big chess pieces that were as tall as Little Man, the forward deck, and the aft deck (fancy word for the back of the boat). With all of that exploring out of the way, we decided to hit the breakfast buffet. We had cereal, eggs, potatoes, and milk. It was delicious!
With Momma still down for the count, we played a round of mini golf where, shockingly enough, I made a NBF! However, she seemed more interested in hanging out with my little bro. Maybe she likes dudes with spiky hair.
We decided it was time to check on the Momma. She was up and moving when we returned to our room, so we decided to take her out and show her all of our super cool exploration finds! We even hit a way cheesy show in the theater about shopping in Cozumel. It was totally worth it, though. They have seats in there that are like a couch, but spin around! I only got to spin a couple of times before Momma and Daddy put the kibosh to my spinning party. Everyone has to have a party pooper…usually it’s Parker, though! ?
Next was it was time for the scheduled muster call. I didn’t quite get it. If this was the muster call, when would we be doing the ketchup call? No one ever gave me a straight up answer on that one. Parker enjoyed wearing his life jacket so much during the call that cried when it was time to take it off. As a matter of fact, he cried a lot of times during the trip when things weren’t going just his way. When he throws tantrums in public, I tell Momma that I’m embarrassed. She replies with, “Aren’t we all.” Sorry – I digressed there for a minute.
After lunch at the buffet where Parks and I scarfed down cheese pizza, we finally hit the Nemo pool! We splashed around for hours out there in the 80 degree sunshine. It was AWESOME! We did get several scrapes and bruises from climbing in and out of the pool, but it were shallow enough that Little Man could swim without his wings on so it was worth it. We were pretty tired from our time in the sun, so we headed back to the room for some well deserved nap time.
At 5:15 there was a reception in honor of our captain with free drinks (that meant something totally different for Mommy and Daddy than it did for Parker and I)! We got to meet the captain and all of his helpers while Parks and I sipped on Virgin Strawberry Daiquiris. Parker liked his drink so much that he ended up finishing mine, too!
It was Elegant Night for dinner…AKA…old ladies dresses up in LOTS of bright red lipstick, flashy sequins that sparkled like disco balls and very tall purple hair dragging grumpy old men with plaid shirts and striped ties behind them. Our family opted for a more casual look, but Parker and I probably got the most complements! All those ladies in their fancy dresses kept telling Momma and Daddy how well behaved we were, how cute we were, and asked if Parker’s hair did that on its own. Seriously? He just wakes up and he has a perfectly mohawked coiffure? They weren’t the last to ask that question, strangely enough! Once dinner began, the waiters and waitresses sang and danced for us while Parks ate cheese pizza (again!) and I had a toasted peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
We decided to hit Doc Holiday’s to listen to some Karaoke. One guy was so bad that Parker kept putting his fingers in his ears! He really was “that bad.” Daddy tried to talk me into going on stage, but I didn’t want to make the other singers feel bad. After about 30 minutes of tunes, Momma took Parks and me back to the room to get ready for bed while Daddy gambled away my college fund. All $10.00 of it…that’s 140 Pesos for anyone keeping currency score! Watch out, Cozumel! Here come the Lebanon Lawsons!
Morgan Quote: “The toasted bread on my peanut butter and jelly sandwich really adds flavor to it!”
Today started out early bird…a little before 5 to be exact. And, believe it or not, that was later than Mommy and Daddy wanted to get out! But either way, we started burning rubber before the crack of dawn this morning. We all had a little steam as we first hit the road and started rolling. There was plenty of squeaking and pointing all the way through Indy. However, once we got past the bright lights of the big city, everyone dozed off pretty quickly. Sometime around Louisville, the car riders perked back up and kept Daddy company. The few stops included a potty break, a gas break, and a lunch stop. Other than that, we tried to keep moving as much as we could to reach our destination…Mobile, Alabama!
We pulled in to the hotel right at 11 ½ hours after we took off, which isn’t too bad. Everyone was pretty wiped out from the travel, but we still had enough energy to check out the hot tub! We enjoyed the warm water and the cool whirlpool jets for a while, then took a quick bath and got dressed again to head back out on the town. Daddy did his research before he came and the Brick Pit seemed to be the hands-down favorite for BBQ down there. Not wanting to miss out on the local flair, we pulled in and stared at the little run down red and white shack. It wasn’t much to look at from the outside, and things didn’t get better when we passed through the door. It was crazy with writing and pictures all over the walls in all sorts of colors, paint, and markers. I get in trouble if I touch the walls at home, but these people draw and write all over the place! We ordered some of the favorites and sat down to an authentic southern barbecue feast. Daddy had ribs and pulled pork with beans and slaw, Mommy had the pulled pork sandwich with the potato salad, and Parks and I each had a little pulled chicken sandwich (sauce on the side, thank you very much). I actually liked it pretty well and put down several bites! Parks wouldn’t touch it, though…not even the homemade banana pudding! Oh well…we all enjoyed the experience and got a kick out of talking to the locals who were very interested in our long drive down from Indiana.
Tomorrow is the big day…we finally board THE BIG BOAT! Bon Voyage!
