Initiate Phase II…codename: The Happiest Place on Earth!
After arriving at the first of our booked hotels late last night/early this morning, we headed to….drum roll please…THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was to see that welcome sign beckoning us to come and play ALL DAY! After a short shuttle ride from the parking lot, and a ferry boat across The Seven Seas, we finally arrived at the most magical place on the face of the planet!
Here is my best at a blow-by-blow of our 12 hour romp through the Magic Kingdom: We went up through Main Street and jumped right into a show with several of the princesses on the doorsteps of Cinderella’s castle! After purchasing a princess hat and a little exploring around the back side of the castle and in to Fantasyland, we rode our first official Disney World ride (and, for the record, Parker’s first ride ever)…Cinderella’s Golden Carousel. I chose a white horse with a purple saddle…Parker at the horse’s ear. Then, we were off to a Fairytale Garden where Belle from Beauty and the Beast read us a great story. Parker enjoyed it from the very back row where Daddy was feeding him carrots and pears. Next we jumped right up the road to Toon Town to get my face painted, which everyone thought was very beautiful.
Then we went straight down to Tomorrowland and stood in line for almost an hour to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin. While I was happy that we defeated the evil emperor Zurg, the ride was a little scary for me. While we were saving the galaxy, Mommy hooked up some Fast Pass tickets to Stitch’s Great Escape. Again, a little too intense for my taste, but I will tell you all about the experience, in great detail, if you ask.
We left Tomorrowland and went back through Fantasyland on our way to Liberty Square to have lunch at the Columbia Harbour House (where, of course, I made and instant best friend with the little girl sitting down from us). From there, we went to Adventureland where things really started swinging and Parker saw a little more action. We all loved Then Enchanted Tiki Room where the birds all talk and sing…especially because it was air conditioned. We came right out of there and hit The Magic Carpets of Aladdin. I got to steer the carpet and I pretty much kept it cranked towards up, up, up (ask Mommy how she liked that) while Daddy and Parker manned the tilt button in the back. Then we toured the Swiss Family Treehouse and nabbed a few Fast Pass tickets to the Jungle Cruise before moving out of Adventureland.
“it’s a small world” was a hit with everyone! Parker and I kept swinging our heads side to side, trying desperately to take it all in. It is amazing how the classics still have a way of doing the trick. Speaking of classics, next up was the Mad Tea Party…aka, Tea cups! Parker and Mommy sat this one out, and it was a good thing they did. Daddy and I had that pink tea cup spinning fast enough that Parker would have shot his binky to Epcot as he lost his lunch. And, speaking of lunch, we swung back through Fontierland and had huge hot dogs and chips on our was to make it to our aforementioned Jungle Cruise ride.
To wrap up the day, we waited for the nighttime parade down Main Street with all of my favorite Disney characters. The floats were amazing and the music was great. Immediately after the parade we started to trek back to the car and towards the hotel to rest up for whatever may lie in store for tomorrow!
P.S. – Daddy’s Note: I think it is “The Happiest Place on Earth” not because of what is there, but because of who you’re with. Everyone was so great all day and the wonder, amazement, and awe on Morgan & Parker’s faces never could get old. So many memories were made today…what a great time!
P.P.S. – Sorry for the huge post and onslaught of pics, but believe me when I say that this is the brief summary of the amazing day. I feel sorry for the first person to ask Morgan how she liked Disney World, because you’ll get the unabridged version.
