Today was my first official day of summer vacation! I’m still going to go to school but only part time again like last summer (Wednesdays and Thursdays). Let me tell you, we started it off with a bang!
To get our bellies full for the jam packed day ahead, we hit Burger King for some hash-browns and milk. We pointed the Mommy-Mobile in the direction of Lafayette and never looked back. We first hit Meijer to pick up the summertime necessities…sunblock, sprinkler head, inflatable pool, and lip gloss. So the lip gloss isn’t a necessity, but it tastes like strawberries…YUM! A quick stop at the Dollar Tree to grab some “this is what we will do if it rains while we’re at Mema’s” crafts and then to the Igloo to get some drinky drinks for Mema, TC, Mommy and me.
Shortly after arriving at Mema’s house, I was in my bikini and lathered in sunblock for some fun in the sun. TC filled my flower-shaped pool with water and I was ready for some tan lines! Needless to say, I spent more time running back and forth between Mommy and Mema and pool then actually any extended time in the water, but that was okay. I had lots of fun splashing around.
After about an hour, I decided I wanted to watch TV for a little bit before it was time to hit the dentist. Coincidentally enough, Mommy and Mema had scheduled their appts. back to back without even knowing it. In the ten minute trip to get there, I fell asleep in the back seat. All that fun in the sun wore me out!
Mema got her chompers cleaned and then the Momma. Fast forward to this phrase, “Well since she is already here, do you want me to try and clean her (MY!!) teeth today?”
“Uh, sure…,” said a hesitant Mommy. No sweat Mama! I hopped right up in that big ole’ chair, opened wide, and let the nice lady with the funny tools go to town in my mouth. I even picked out my fluoride flavor…banana! When I was finished, I got lots of prizes for doing such an awesome job…a pencil, a sticker, a new toothbrush, AND a stick foot toy!! All that for just saying, “ahhh.” I can’t wait to go back to the dentist!
In celebration, I painted a nice stained-plastic window catcher for Mema, and I hit the pool one last time before falling asleep in the car on the way home to see my daddy. Wow! I can’t wait to see what’s in store for my second day of summer vacation!
We got up and milled around a little this morning, not knowing exactly what to do. All of the sudden it hit us…Indiana Beach! We showered & dressed in record time and hit the road towards Monticello. It was a long trip, but worth the wait.
We crossed the huge suspension bridge and started with games right away where I won a bracelet and a sticky, stretchy hand thingy. We walked around and took in all the sites of rides, games, food, and beach-goers wearing some less-than-attractive tank tops & beach wear. I rode the kid sized bumper boats first. Then, we played a few more games and then hit Kiddieland where, after just a few minutes of apprehension, I was addicted to the cool rides. I rode the carousel, boats, cars, firetruck, other cars, etc. Up next was a ride on Indiana’s largest paddle-driven boat, the Shafer Queen. I loved the wind in my hair and the splash of the water. More games, more tickets, and more prizes…then we celebrated with an Elephant Ear. It had been a full day, and we had been up and down the whole boardwalk more than a few times, so we started for home.
I woke up from a little nap to take a pit stop at Gigi & Poppa’s house, where we found Mesa & C-Lo playing in the living room. Of course, I perked right back up and was running at 100% while I played with one of my best friends. We played kitchen, workshop, ate dinner, watered flowers, played on the swing set, watched Toy Story, took a bath, and had a nighttime snack before we had to say goodbye. I managed to stay awake all the way home, but hit the pillow pretty hard (at 9:30!) once settled down.
Here are the pictures from my Super Duper Day!
Mommy and Daddy kept telling me to be GOOD ALL WEEK because Gigi and Poppa were planning an adventure trip to the NEW ZOO!! Gigi showed me the website with all the animals and I was very excited to learn all about it. We started our trip by Gigi and Poppa spending the night in my basement, I showed them how Daddy and I play chase and wore them out! Friday morning,we woke up at had pancakes at Bob Evans and off to Ft Wayne . I kept Gigi and Poppa entertained by singing, chatting and playing “I Spy” in the back seat of Miss Daisy. Soon, we parked at the zoo and our adventure began! We saw tigers and monkeys and kangaroos to name a few! The sea lions performed for a lunch of fish and it made me giggle! I think Poppa and Gigi had as much fun as I did! We got to spend the night in a hotel and swam until we were prunes in the pool. After a good nights’ sleep, it was up to another pancake breakfast and heading home to share my animal stories with Mommy and Daddy. Check out my pictures which include a Safari jeep ride!!!! Wow, I’m very tired from my outing and I think I will dream of Cookie the pony and all the other animal friends I met at the zoo.
During the last week, my room has gone through some interesting transformations. We started the week with everything we moved over…my box springs and mattress on the floor and antique dresser & changing table/dresser/TV stand painted to match my old room. The walls were dark brown.
So, Mommy and Daddy started the makeover by moving all of my furniture to baby boy’s room and my mattress in to their room (that was interesting to sleep in there…ask them about it sometime). Then there were at least 2 coats of white paint over the brown walls (and, a healthy slathering of white on all of the trim, baseboards, and windows) over the next few days before the final two coats of pink were applied. Bubble gum pink. Very pink. Girly pink. And I love it!
Then, on Thursday, Mommy and I rushed home to meet the delivery guys that were bringing all of our new furniture. They carried my new dresser, mirror, tall chest, nightstand, and bed (yup, the whole thing…headboard, foot board, and rails) up to my pink room. Now, I am a super big girl in a real bed and grown-up furniture. Baby boy can use my old stuff…check me out!
Happy 26th birthday to Uncle Malala! I’m 3, and I’ll be 4 at my next birthday. I think I want a Dora cake, but maybe a pony cake. Which ever one you pick, I’ll use the other.
