Mommy had a big party today, so it was just Daddy and I home to take care of each other. Well, it didn’t take us long to figure out that we needed to hit the town. We got dressed and hit the Children’s Museum right as it opened this morning. Our first stop was to get our tickets for the show…more on that later. Then, we played in the underwater exhibit for a long time. They had a submarine to play in and had a big blue wall where you could stand and see yourself on the TV and it looked like you were underwater! I danced there for a long time and got quite a little chorus line of friends assembled before it was all over.
Next stop was the train. This thing was big and loud. I stood close when the big bell was ringing because I wasn’t scared, but I had Daddy close by just in case. We played with the model trains, too…pushing the buttons to turn on the lights, toot the horn, or drop the guard rail.
Then, it was time to line up in front of the planetarium to catch the show. We sat down in big chairs that leaned waaaay back because the the movie screen was the whole ceiling of the room! We watched Mr. Rogers and the people in the Land of Make Believe talk about the moon and stars. I ooohed and ahhhed with the crowd while we watched the stars spin all around us and watched Mr. Rogers point out the constellations.
The dino exhibit was next, and Daddy and I were brave enough to take as much of the big, loud dinosaurs as we could before we made our way to Playscape to splash in the water and sift the sand. Then, after some chicken and fries, we were back at it again and made trips to the polar bear, Authur’s World, and a few other exhibits. After going solid from 10 to 3, we called it a day and drove home to relax with some movies and stories.
As always, here is the photo evidence!
When we woke up today, we piled in Mommy’s car to head to Indy to run errands. Our first stop was to trim up my hair at Cookie Cutters, and I got to ride the horsie and watch Strawberry Shortcake! I did such a good job getting my hair cut that I got a special chocolate treat at the store next door.
Our next stop was Clay Terrace where the highlight was a splash in the fountain after we browsed the stores. It started off innocent enough with dipping my toes in or feeling the water with my fingers. Then, it progressed to some puddle jumping and trips around the fountain in ankle-deep water. Finally, I was joined by two friends and we convinced each other to go all in! We were jumping in the fountains, walking through them, splashing, and getting soaked to the bone. It didn’t take much to talk Mommy in to another stop at Children’s Place for a dry outfit so we could continue our day.
Once we were all dry and hungry from the splashing, we hit Bucca for bread and pizza. I had a good lunch and we hit Costco across the street for the usual essentials. Finally, a few stops at a couple of model homes (to fuel Mommy’s fire) and we were home in time for some cartoons and dinner.
I spent the night at Gigi and Poppa’s house last night with Mommy. But, when I woke up, Mommy was gone with Gigi to go shopping and Poppa said that we get to spend the whole day together! We (me, Poppa, puppy, Plopper, and Simba) started off with some chocolate pancakes at IHOP. Then we came back to the house and played for a while before we hit the playground at the mall where the puppies (helped by Poppa) chased me around the slide, car, and airplane. I even got a fancy drink like I get when I’m with Mommy! We had some fries on the way home and then I went down for a 3 hour nap to recuperate.
When I got up, we played some more before packing up to head back to my house. When we got there, Daddy was there to meet us! Poppa and I took Daddy out to Pizza Hut for salad. While we were there, they set up a table for face painting…I got a butterfly!
Thanks very much for my fun day, Poppa. I had a lot of fun playing with you and I can’t wait for the next time you play hooky from work!
On Saturday, Mommy and Daddy got up and rollin’ and we headed north to Lafayette. We met up with Aunt Carrie and Uncle Manata first and hit some stores and the pizza joint before we made it over to Mema and Pepa’s house to play in the pool. It was really fun to have so many friends over at the pool. Usually, Mommy and Carrie lounge while I jump off the stairs and play with my buckets. But, when Uncle Manata and Daddy are there, it is like a playground! TC even brought out his boat to chase people around the pool. The funniest part was watching Mommy and Carrie play volleyball against Daddy and Manata and really give them a run for their money!
On Sunday, Daddy and I sneaked off first thing in the morning and bought donuts for Mommy. We had them waiting for here when she finally rolled out of bed and I got to say “Surprise!” Daddy helped Mommy get down ALL of my old baby things, then he headed outside and said something about how even the hot sun was better than sifting through all of those tubs of stuff. Then, Uncle Manata and Aunt Carrie came down to check out some of the stuff and see if Riley and Taylor could use any of it. When they left, I got pink ice cream and Daddy put up my princess castle in the loft because I was a good girl all day.
It sounds like we have a busy few days lined up to start the week. Check back soon for the full report.
Saturday was an experience that is my birthright…a day in the Snack Shack! We rolled in at about lunch time and I went right in to washing dishes in the sink pans. Gigi had prizes for me throughout the day, including lots of little sponges that were in the shapes of barnyard animals, planes, trains, and cars. I saw two BIG horses and 2 little horses at the canal park and Gigi and Poppa came with me to inspect further. I pranced around the different houses, centers, and cabins like I owned the place. After a short hunger-induced episode, I was back to my smiling and singing A+ self while I finished off the pretzel with cheese and took in a little more of the Snack Shack atmosphere. We packed up and headed home, and I was still going strong all the way through bath time!
On Sunday, we woke up and headed off for Mema and Pepa’s house. Mommy and Daddy went on to cut more pie and dip more ice cream in Delphi, but Mema and Pepa took me to the park. I showed them how I was such a big girl by going down all of the big slides all by myself. They tried to sling some White Castle burgers my way, but I wisely said that I’d rather go for the fries. Could you imagine the blow-out if I knocked back a few sliders? But, we had a lot of fun playing and laughing. So much fun, in fact, that we were on 52 for about 3 minutes before I was sacked out in the back seat. Oh well, maybe I’ll stay up for fireworks next year.
