Gotta catch everyone up on the happenings for the last part of our vacation. Day 3 started with a good, down home country breakfast at the Hearthside Restaurant. There were eggs, biscuits and gravy, french toast, pancakes, grits, hash browns, and all sorts of other goodies. We chowed down and then loaded up to take Ganny and Mommy to the outlet mall for some shopping. Poppa, Daddy and I headed back to the cabin for some swimming in the hot tub. After splashing around for a while, I rinsed off in the tub and had some Mac & Cheese for lunch before hitting the hay for a much needed nap (I hadn’t had a nap the first two days!). Daddy even got in on a little of that napping action.
When we woke up, we picked up Ganny and Mommy and all of their packages from the outlet mall. We headed back towards the cabin to drop Daddy and Poppa off at the golf course before the girls headed back in to town to the Olde Time Photo shop. I got all dressed up in a frilly white dress and Ganny and Mommy got to wear their jeans! They took some good snaps with my big hat on, then we were off to feed the bears some more apples and bread. We tootled around to some more shops and then headed back to the golf course to pick up the boys. We were there cheering them in to the 18th hole!
We all went back to the cabin and I swam and ate with Ganny and Poppa while Mommy and Daddy went out for some smooching and hand-holding on their date night.
This morning, hit yet another breakfast joint on the way out of town. Then, a quick photo op beneath the Sexy Stuf sign (a funny looking store in Pigeon Forge) before starting on the long trek home. A nap helped to make the trip go faster, but I definitely enjoyed the times we got out to stretch out legs and go potty. Speaking of potty, I bet we could have made the trip in half the time if everyone were wearing diapers like I was…we could have drove right through!
Anyway, it was good to pull in to our driveway, see the kitty, have a bath in my tub, and lay down in my soft and squishy bed. What a trip…it was so much fun. When I ready these past few entries, I can’t believe all of the things we did! Thanks to Ganny and Poppa for coming with us. It was nice to share the vacation with you and we hope you had fun, too.
Keep a lookout for a photo recap of the events. There are some gems in there that you won’t want to miss. Until then…
Hi everyone?it?s me again. Last night was pretty crazy. First, Daddy and Poppa were playing pool until late, late, late. Every time they would break, I would sit up and ask Mommy some questions that were more or less unintelligible. Then, we had a big rain that knocked acorns, leaves, sticks, and a big branch on to the metal room of our cabin. It was so loud that it sent Mommy and Daddy out to the living room at 3 am to investigate.
At about 6 am, it was time to get up and moving. I headed out and woke the troops and herded them to the Smokey Mountain Pancake House for breakfast. Wow, what a good meal! We had pancakes (with chocolate chips for Poppa and pineapple and banana for Daddy), omelets, bacon, etc. When we rolled ourselves out of there, we headed over to the 3 Bears Gift Shop to see the 5 live bears (I?m not that good at math yet, but something is wrong with that scenario). Anyway, I got to feed the big, black bears apple slices and bread. It was so funny; they lumbered around and looked really sleepy?like Daddy! After the bears, we mined for gems (i.e., played in the dirt) and picked out some really pretty rocks.
Mommy and Ganny went shopping (mostly for baby clothes?I think I made out pretty well) and Daddy, Poppa and I went back to the cabin so that Daddy could mess with the camera. When we picked up the ladies, we zipped over to Gatlinburg and went straight to the aquarium. It was such a good place?I saw sharks, turtles, fishes, crabs, jellyfish, stingrays, and octopuses?octopi?octopuseses?ummm, an octopus! When we left, we strolled around through the town to check out all of the shops. I think my personal favorite was the fudge shop that Daddy stopped at?yummy!
Back to the cabin for some dinner, and Mommy, Daddy and I did some swimming in the hot tub, had some popcorn, and then went to bed. Ganny and Poppa went out for date night. I hope those crazy kids don?t stay out too late because we have another big day tomorrow!
As soon as I peeped my head up over the crib this morning, I had Ganny, Poppa, Mommy, and Daddy all looking at me and waiting on me to get up and movin’. They pulled me out, changed me, threw some peanut butter waffles my way, and we were out the door. We drove, and drove, then stopped, then drove, and drove more. Stopped, then drove more. Almost 10 hours in all, including 2 meals and a gas stop. Wow. You know, when you think about it, 10 hours is quite a bit when you’ve only been around for less than 2 years. That adds up to quite a big chunk.
It was all worth it, though. When we got to Pigeon Forge, I was just as excited as Ganny to see all of the cheesy shops and tourist traps. Then, we wound around to the cabin…it is awesome! I checked out every nook and cranny, and I think it is a pretty cool place. The best part…the hot tub! I get to go swimming when it is cold outside, and I stay warm! Bonus!
After the big drive and a quick dip, I was cashed out. Early to bed, and you know how the rest of the saying goes. I’ll be up-and-at-’em tomorrow to tackle the town.
Free at last! I got my big purple cast off today!
Mommy and Daddy picked me up from school at about 1:30, and we headed straight down to the doctor’s office. We did a whole lot of sitting around in the waiting room until I got to go back and show the nurse my purple cast. She showed me a big silver thing that sounded like a bee and told me that she was going to use it to take my cast off. When I heard it turn on, I tried to tell her exactly what I thought she should use it for because I didn’t want it anywhere near me! But, when Plopper started watching and said it would be OK, I decided to check it out. It didn’t hurt at all, just tickled all up and down my leg.
When she cracked it open, I saw something I vaguely remembered under there…my right leg! I was a little reluctant to bend it at first, but I started to limber up as she washed all of the yuckies away. Then, I though it was time to put it through its paces, but Mommy and Daddy thought otherwise. We had to wait again while I got pictures of it to give to the doctor. I know what you’re thinking…then comes the walking, right? Nope. More waiting until we went back to see the doctor.
Finally, we got the go-ahead to put some miles on my tires and I hopped off the bed. It wasn’t so smooth right off the bat. My knee was buckling and I told Mommy that I thought my shoe was broken because I couldn’t walk right. It was pretty frustrating, but I definitely wanted to keep trying. Off and on throughout the night, I would get more and more brave on it. It definitely worked fine in the bathtub, though. Man, that felt so good that we spent about an hour in there!
Thanks very much to everyone for the well wishes, presents, and love while I had my owie! Kisses!
Smilin’ and eatin’ a snack in my new dress.
