Today was a good day! I got Mommy and Daddy up at 7:30 this morning to watch my new Strawberry Shortcake movie…3 times in a row!! Mommy left to go get her hair coifed and left Daddy and I to play and eat lunch together. After a nap and before I knew it, we were duded and in the car to go meet Mommy at the Build a Bear store in Indy. It was really neat there! So many things to see and sqeeze. Mommy and Daddy told me that I could choose any bear to build and take home. So…I chose “Stinky,”….the pink pig!! Now I know the sign doesn’t say “Build a Pig,” but I really liked him. The lady there helped me give Stinky and heart and fill him up with soft fluffy stuff. I had a great time. I know Stinky and I will be great friends.
After we got Stinky, we went to Costco so Daddy could drool over big TV’s. I have to admit, it might be fun to watch Elmo on a screen that size, but mean Mommy said, “No way! Do you know how much I just spent on these highlights and bangs?!” I didn’t really know what that meant, but I don’t think Daddy and I are going to get that TV any time soon. Oh well, I still have my DVD player in Mommy’s car as a tide over!
THEN, we went to Champps to eat dinner with Jennifer and Rob. They are going to have a baby Adam very soon and they are getting all ready for him. I thought they needed to see a baby in action, so I pulled out my best tricks for them to see. I think they were very impressed with my skills even though I have this purple cast on. Just think of the damage I could do if I had my sea leg back?!?! At 9:00 it was off to bed with my new pal Stinky. I think he really likes bedtime, he even put his head on my big girl pillow! Good night, everyone!!
Hi everybody. I know y’all want to keep up on how I’m doing, so I wanted to post that everything is going pretty good. I’m really learning how to get around as much as I can…even with my purple cast on. I can scoot, roll, and stand (that one really gets a reaction out of Mommy and Daddy). Or, the whining and pointing trick still seems to work
Ganny was nice enough to play with me on Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday, it was a whirlwind of visitors and events. Mada and Pada came down, and Ganny and I showed them our new favorite thing…the horsie and car at Wal Mart! I don’t know how much a quarter is, but judging by how many they plopped in I should start applying for student loans now. Then, guess who came to visit after his meeting? Poppa! Man, that guy is a workout to keep entertained. He is all over the floor rolling, crawling, and playing with stuff. But, I think I helped him have some fun at our boring old house.
On Thursday, I got out of the boring old house and hooked up with Ganny and her limo first thing in the morning. Another fan tour through Arnett Clinic and some more cars and dinosaurs to ride at Meijer made it another exhausting day. As soon as I got home, it was dinner, bath, and bed.
Today, Daddy stayed home with me. He was trying to do some work this morning, but as you all know, I don’t like to have to compete for attention so I had to lay it on pretty thick. It worked, and we ended up snuggling and watching Monsters, Inc. Then, I rode in the big blue car at Kroger to pick up some more chicken nuggets and came home for lunch and a nap. I snoozed so long that Daddy got all of the jungle he calls a yard mowed this afternoon.
That’s the report for today. Thanks again for all of the calls and well-wishes.
First, thanks so much to all of my well wishers. I appreciate all of your calls, emails, and comments to let me know how much you’re thinking about me. In no time, I’ll be back to running so fast that my feet can’t keep up.
I’m still getting used to this, so it was still a little rough last night. But, I decided to let Daddy sleep in his bed instead of on my floor (no promises about tonight, though). I had some breakfast and then…well…just sort of sat around, I guess. Mommy and Daddy are working so hard to keep me entertained…it’s cute. So, I put on a pretty good show of giggles and songs and have stayed in pretty good humor so far.
This afternoon, I got my cast at Riley Hospital. It felt like we hung out in the waiting room long enough to have another 3 or 4 more birthdays, but it payed off because they let me pick the color of my cast…purple! So far, so good. I’m still able to get in to my car seat, my stroller, my big girl chair at the dining room table, and am still able to be waited on hand and foot, so things still seem to be groovy.
Click here for some photos that show off the owie, my splint (that I successfully picked all of the cotton out of and said “Uh-oh” each time), and my new purple cast. And, click here for some pics of me in my new Elmo hat that Ganny and Poppa got me to help me feel better.
Well, today started off pretty fun. We got up and had some breakfast before getting ready for a big day out on the town. The first stop was Toys R Us, where we got a bunch of presents for my friends and even a few surprises for me. Then, we hit Ganny and Poppa’s house for a change and a nap. When I got up, we went right over to Don Pablos and I learned how to say “tortilla”!
After lunch, we went to the mall. Mommy was shopping while Daddy and I played on the indoor playground. And, that is when it happened…
I was having such a good time running and playing and sliding and reading and climbing. I saw a girl climb up on the big ball and jump off, so I took my turn. By the time I was up on top of the ball, I saw Daddy stumbling towards me, so I knew I had to act fast. I jumped for the ground just as he got there, but my landing wasn’t a 10.0. I hurt my knee pretty bad and Daddy knew right away that something wasn’t right. He scooped me up, got Mommy, and we hit the car. We drove as fast as we could to the hospital because I had an owie on my knee. They took some pictures and told me that I broke my tibia. They wrapped it all up and now it sticks straight out!
When I came out of the Emergency Room, the whole crew was there for me. Granny, Poppa, Carrie, Manata, Mema, Pepa, TC, and my best friend…Wendy’s french fries. I scarfed them down while everyone made over me, and then we headed for home.
Whew, what a crazy day. I hit my pillow hard tonight…having an owie on my knee really took it out of me.
Thanks to everyone that came to see my knee. You made me feel a lot better by knowing that soooo many people love me and care about my knee.
